Super League MW18 2025/26 Match Review | Selangor FC 1-0 Kuching City FC | Holding Firm at Stadium MBPJ

Selangor FC secured three crucial points with a 1-0 victory over Kuching City FC in the 18th round of the 2025/26 Super League at MBPJ Stadium, Kelana Jaya yesterday.

The thrilling encounter, contested for the league’s second-place position, showcased high levels of quality, intensity, and tactical discipline from both sides. Selangor FC dominated possession with 52 per cent and registered 13 attempts, while Kuching City FC managed 10 attempts, four of which were on target. Kalamullah Al-Hafiz was outstanding, making several key saves to ensure the Red Giants retained control of the match.

The decisive moment came late in the game when Chrigor Moraes scored the winning goal, sending MBPJ Stadium into raptures. With five minutes of added time, Selangor FC successfully defended their home fortress and claimed three important points in their first Ramadan fixture of the season.

Selangor FC Head Coach Kim Pan-gon expressed pride in his players and emphasised the importance of maintaining strength at their home ground.

“This was a tough match under intense pressure. In the second half, Kuching City FC launched excellent counterattacks, but our players defended resolutely and continued to create chances until the final whistle. On top of that, we have a great line up of players. If the opponent focuses on two to three players, we can shift to a different strategy that we have. I am proud of their hard work and teamwork in this crucial match, especially during Ramadan,” he said.

“Off the pitch, we aim to build a strong home culture like a fortress for the Red Giants’ supporters. Although we are not there yet, our goal is to make every visit to the stadium a proud and enjoyable experience,” he added.

This week, Selangor FC will face Melaka FC at Hang Jebat Stadium on 28 February in the 19th match week of the 2025/26 Super League at 10 pm. For all the supporters that are unable to attend the match in Melaka, the club invites you to join the Watch Party at Suasana Market Hall.

The management of Selangor FC also wishes to extend its gratitude to the 3,802 Red Giants supporters who attended MBPJ Stadium yesterday to witness this thrilling encounter.
